What happens during a Kinesiology treatment?
Once you are comfortable we have a check-in, where I find out how things have been for you and what you hope to get out of your treatment. I will ask you about your mood, your energy levels, your sleep, your digestion, your physical symptoms, and any pain you have in your body.
I then tune into your body and begin a systematic sequence of muscle testing, to find out the root cause of your physical and emotional symptoms. Muscle-testing shows what organs and meridians are out of balance, and this shows me how to treat your symptoms and help you to feel more like yourself again. During the treatment, we find suitable herbs and food for your symptoms. A Kinesiology session provides lymphatic massage, emotional release techniques, neurovascular stimulation, acupressure, and energy healing to help you to recover. Treatments are multi-layered and deep, simultaneously addressing all four of these modes of health and wellbeing.
Is Kinesiology a holistic therapy?
Yes, Systematic Kinesiology is a complementary therapy. It treats your body holistically, meaning that all aspects of your health are connected:
the physical body (muscles, bones, joints, soft tissue, all the way down to your smallest cells)
the mental body (mind and emotions)
the (bio)chemical body (neurotransmitters, hormones, digestive enzymes, stomach acid, blood chemistry, inflammatory cytokines, etc)
the energy body (the electrical energy that flows through energy channels called ‘meridians’ in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and ‘nadis’ in Ayurvedic medicine). This Life Force energy is called Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and prana in Ayurvedic medicine.
How long does a Kinesiology treatment last?
A treatment lasts from 2 to 2.5 hours. Your fee charges for 2 hours, but I keep time available free of charge in case your corrections take longer than usual. This can be the case with long-held or deeply rooted patterns in your body, so leave a 30 minute buffer if you can. (Please make sure to let me know if you absolutely need to be finished after two hours).
What should I wear for my Kinesiology treatment?
Make sure to come for your Kinesiology session wearing what you are usually most comfortable in. Warm, clean, loose comfortable clothes with layers that you can remove if you get too warm. Wear a pair of cosy socks. I provide blankets and pillows, and an electric blanket so that you are gently kept warm throughout the whole treatment.
How many Kinesiology treatments will I need to feel better?
Most people feel a reduction in their symptoms after their first Kinesiology session. If your health problem has been going on for a long time, or has gotten worse over time, we will need a minimum of four to six sessions to start to holistically remove the layers that are underlying your symptoms. The basic building blocks of health: hormone balance, good digestion, strong circulation, blood pressure regulation, mood regulation all struggle to continue doing their job when you push yourself too much while ignoring your symptoms. By the time many clients decide to try Kinesiology, they have run themselves into the ground. The first treatment reveals a lot: we test all of your organs to see what is strong and what is struggling: immunity, digestion, hormone health, brain and neurological health, and the structural strength of your cells, tissues, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and skin. From there, we can make a plan of anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Nothing in the body works in isolation: correcting one imbalance generally has the beneficial effect of correcting others.
How often should I come to Imbas Healing for Kinesiology treatments?
Once a month sets up a nice rhythm of Kinesiology sessions. Your body continues the healing work of the treatment in the time in between, and I also give you some gentle self-care homework to do, so that you are looking after yourself between sessions. Every Kinesiology treatment gives us the opportunity to work with deeper layers of illness and imbalance in your mental, physical, (bio)chemical and emotional (MCPE) health. Kinesiology is also preventative — it can pick up early warning signs of health problems before they turn into bigger, more serious illness. Some people like to book in for a treatment every two months as an MOT. This provides a way of maintaining your health and extending your energy and wellbeing all the way into older age.
Can Reiki and Kinesiology completely cure my illness or condition?
No medical treatment or holistic/complementary therapy can guarantee a 100% cure of anything. One of my medical specialists once advised me to run a mile from anyone who would promise me a cure, particularly where scientific research hasn’t found one yet, as is the case with my neuro-immune disorder. I believe that these were wise words.
And now, the ‘but’: I personally experienced a miracle improvement from Kinesiology. No, it didn’t cure my health condition but it did radically transform my quality of life. Treatments such as Systematic Kinesiology and Reiki work by removing layers of disease and imbalance in the body to get to the root cause of symptoms. When a holistic treatment alleviates the stress and burden of the illness, pain and discomfort you are dealing with, your body’s innate healing ability then is able to support further improvement.
So how can Kinesiology help me to heal?
In your sessions, we ease the workload of tired, overworked organs in order to strengthen and rebalance every aspect of how your body feels healthy. Every treatment starts off by supporting your brain function and nervous system, so that your cognitive workload is not burning up your energy reserves. Kinesiology makes sure that your gallbladder, liver and kidneys are working properly so that you are filtering out toxins and pathogens. Helping to strengthen your heart, circulation and lymphatic drainage keeps you energised and ensures that your cells are nourished with fresh nutrients. Kinesiology treatments that focus on your spleen, pancreas and gallbladder contribute to a healthy immune system, strong metabolism and strong detox pathways. Balancing your hormones can make an enormous difference to your health and energy levels. Strengthening your lungs makes sure that every breath you take is flooding your cells with fresh oxygen.
We also work intensively with difficult emotions, low mood and mental distress. Every working part of your body is fundamentally connected to every other working part of the body. As an example of this, just think of the gut-brain axis, of how 80% of serotonin is made in the gut. Our mood, our cognitive function, our state of mind relies on a healthy microbiome and healthy digestion. So if there is an imbalance or inflammation in your small or large intestine or your stomach, this is going to significantly impact your mood and level of functioning at home and at work. When you come to me for a Kinesiology treatment because you are suffering with low mood, I will be looking much further than your brain and neurotransmitters for the cause. This is just one example of how the whole body functions as an interconnected, mutually supportive network of balances (and imbalances).
By lifting the layers of symptoms, pain and dis-ease throughout the four layers of the body (MPCE), Kinesiology works effectively by releasing layers of illnes. Every treatment leaves you feeling lighter and your body better supported to function in the most healthful way, keeping you well and energised. Improvement, recovery and healing are happening at all of these stages and throughout all four levels of Self. We have an innate ability for self-healing once the right conditions are set in place for this miracle to happen. Clients find that this process usually gets underway fairly quickly once the treatments have begun to peel away the layers of symptoms and discomfort.
So I never promise a cure or 100% recovery. What I offer is careful, supportive listening to the signs and clues that your body give us during your treatment about what it needs to feel symptom-free.
